As the year-end buzz gets electric ⚡ I’m taking a moment to reflect…
It is a privilege to support the journeys of global Australians and keep the Advance community connected with Australia. I’m grateful to the small but mighty Advance team for pulling off an ambitious suite of programs this year. And I am in awe of the generosity of our volunteer Board, Ambassadors, judging panel and committee members, for making 2023 such a success!
Advance will close from 18 December until 8 January. As a holiday gift 🎁 for yourself (and us!), book your tickets for the Gala Dinner on 14 March, 2024.

This month’s image ☝️ – you may know that the Great Barrier Reef is the only living structure visible from space, stretching over 2300km! As shown in the snapshot from last summer, maintaining the reef’s resilience in the face of multiple threats will keep the biodiversity of this underwater haven alive.
TO THE STARS AND BEYOND
The anticipation is mounting as GameChanger Adam Gilmour prepares for the launch of the first Australian-made rocket. The maiden orbital test flight for Gilmour Space Technologies will take place from the Bowen Orbital Spaceport in North Queensland. Check out Gilmour’s final push toward the stars 🌠.

Professor Arnold Dix is the Australian expert turned hero who led the rescue of 41 miners in the Uttarkashi tunnel in northern India. Interviews show his calm and methodical demeanour.
