Born Global: April 2021

Hello friend,

Our 2020 Survey of Global Australians suggested that 10% of our Advance community had returned home since March 2020, at least in part due to the pandemic. Since January 2021, we have seen that number increase, with estimates that half of all Australians living abroad have now returned to Australia. In response to your calls, we have been ramping up our efforts to ensure that Australian organisations value this windfall of global talent (see recent media below!).

This BornGlobal edition focuses on returning Australians – with resources, inspiration, and tips for those who are back, or contemplating their return home. But for many of our Advance community, Australia is not exactly ‘home’ anymore – around 20% of survey respondents intend to stay overseas permanently. In fact, the majority (56%) of our members have been based overseas for 10 or more years.

Whether you are returning or staying abroad, we want to keep you connected professionally with Australia. To catch up on Australian policy changes, industry developments and debates, check out our super succinct News Rundown especially created for our busy global community.

‘Till next time,
Johanna Pitman
