Hello Friend,
So many reminders this month that global Australians are at the forefront of current affairs including:
- Annette Young amplifying the voices for peace in the Middle Eastπ;
- Advance Ambassador, Georgie Skipper, navigating APEC in San Francisco;
- Sean Turnell, the economic advisor wrongfully imprisoned in Myanmar, releasing his poignant memoir π .
Meanwhile, I’ve been thinking a lot about loneliness amongst global Australians. It’s important to recognise how normal this is and to know what resources are available. The holidays can be a particularly tough time, so we’ve pulled together a list of festive events βοΈ to help connect Aussies overseas. And for those moving back to Australia, our #CoffeeHour on Dec 6th should help you find like-minded returnees. Fittingly, our postcard this month shares insights (and a special π discount!) from Irene McAleese as she returns to Australia after 25 years abroad π΄ββοΈ
Finally, I’m excited to announce that our esteemed panel of Advance Ambassadors includes 19 new appointees! I’m grateful to these leaders for volunteering their time to help Advance grow our engaged community of global Australians.
βTil next time,
Johanna Pitman

This month’s image βοΈ – The Blue Mountains, beyond the eucalyptus. But why are they blue? It’s not just the gum leaves; it’s the eucalyptus oil released into the air that creates a bluish haze.
