Celebration 2019
Highlights from the 2019 Advance Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner
In October 2019, we celebrated the impact made by 13 outstanding achievers at the Advance Awards sponsored by major partner NAB. We recognised Dr David Putrino as the Advance Awards Global Australian of the Year. David also took out the Healthcare Award sponsored by GE Healthcare. Professor John Mattick AO was presented with the Atlassian Global Impact Award by Mike Cannon-Brookes.
Our Advance Award 2019 winners (from left to right) David Thompson, Kate Glazebrook, Dr Yijia Li, Michelle Grant, Adam Gilmour, Daria Rippingale, Richard Fuller OAM, Natalie Jeremijenko, Dr David Putrino and Professor John Mattick (unable to join us on the night were Angelica Mesiti, Dr Laode M. Syarif and Hugh Whalan)
As we looked out across the room with 500 people gathered at The Star, we saw Australia at its very best. There were people from across Sydney’s three cities, from regional NSW, visitors from interstate and those who flew in from around the world. Parents were celebrating the success of their children and strangers were captured by the humility, tenacity and the vision of the Award winners. The night brought together titans of industry, startup founders and students (thanks to the generosity of benefactors including Alceon, Robert Whyte, David and Barbara Mortimer, Garry & Susan Rothwell, the Hintze Family Charitable Foundation, the Pratt Foundation and Santos who made available tables for university students to attend).
You get the picture. This community sees opportunity as #global and has great ambitions for themselves, each other and the nation.
