Fiona de Jong is the Director of the Australian Institute of Sport European Training Centre in Gavirate, Northern Italy, where she supports the preparation of Australian athletes for the European Summer and Winter Olympic & Paralympic Games, Paris 24 and Milan-Cortina 2026. Previously, Fiona was the Head of Australia’s ‘Nation Brand’ at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) from 2018, and Chief Marketing Officer of Austrade from 2020. She worked with more than 17 government departments and over 50 industry sectors through private and public partnerships to develop a cohesive Australian brand and narrative to encourage the world to visit, study, invest and do business with Australia. Prior to Austrade, Fiona built 12 years’ of experience in Olympic sport administration. As CEO and Director of Sport at the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) she delivered 10 Australian Olympic campaigns in Torino 2006, Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010, London 2012, Sochi 2014, Rio 2016 and Singapore 2010, Innsbruck 2012, Nanjing 2014, Lillehammer 2016.
She is board member of the Australia Italy Business Association (AIBA) and the global Association of Sports Performance Centres, as well as a board member of Surfing Australia, the Australian Government Sport Diplomacy Advisory Council, Member of the National Sports Tribunal, and former member of the Australian Olympic Foundation, Olympic Winter Institute of Australia, International Olympic Committee (IOC) Marketing Commission and IOC Taskforce on Safeguarding Athletes. Fiona is a former triathlete and holds degrees in Law (Hons), Information Technology and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.
