Imagine if Amazon’s mission was to restore the Amazon rainforest… that project would have been completed decades ago.

Hi! It’s Adam and Josh, the co-founders of Humanitix. We couldn’t be more excited to finally launch our not-for-profit ticketing platform in the US, and want to share a bit about it.

If you haven’t heard of us, Humanitix is the world’s first humane ticketing platform, donating 100% of profits from booking fees to children’s charities. Backed by Google.org and the Atlassian Foundation, we are converting the USD $3.7 billion in annual global booking fees into social impact projects that give disadvantaged kids greater access to education, healthcare and a fair go in life.

As a not-for-profit ticketing platform, our business model is unique – we do not rely on donations to create impact. Instead, by offering innovative ticketing software, sustainable impact is generated every time a ticket is sold. By lowering fees, making event management easy, and powering events with impact, we can disrupt the ticketing industry for a greater good.

Why ticketing? Well, our mission is to bring people together to invest in humanity, and what better way to do it than facilitating impactful events that foster connection?

So in 2016 we formed Humanitix in Australia, and ambitiously set out to disrupt ticketing for good. We did this by removing shareholders, improving accessibility, and using 100% of fee profits to support education projects. To date, we have donated over $1 million USD to our charity partners.

But neither of us wanted to stop there! So we’ve now embarked on the next chapter of our journey, expanding to the US and setting up shop in Denver, where we’ve already started making connections with partners that are driving the social impact we want to invest in. And thanks to our new location, we can do this on a global scale.

These partners include:

  • Code.org: expanding access to computer science in schools and increasing participation by young women and students from other underrepresented groups.
  • Room to Read: transforming the lives of millions of children in low-income communities around the world by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education.
It’s this idea of growing a sustainable, self-funding charity through tech that we’ve always found so exciting, and we know these connections are going to help us do it in the US.

Our ultimate goal is to create an entire suite of self-funding social enterprises that deliver best-in-class products and services, all while tackling some of the world’s biggest issues.

Our best source of growth has been from event hosts jumping onboard and experiencing our platform for themselves. Humanitix is more cost-effective than competitor platforms like Eventbrite (free for free events), with awesome human support. So it’s really a win-win-win situation for hosts – they’re saving on costs and creating a positive mark on the world all at the same time, which is why we’re positive that our new office is only going to lead to bigger and better things.
