Global Australian Awards 2023 satellite events

We hosted events all around the globe to watch the broadcast of the Global Australian Awards 2023 - see what happened! We hope you truly enjoyed our global celebration 🥂🌏

 

 

Hong Kong

The Hong Kong screening, graciously hosted by Deputy Consul-General to Hong Kong and Macau, Alistair McEachern, featured distinguished guests including Advance Award Winner and current member of the Judging Panel, Michelle Garnaut AO. Co-hosted by AustCham Hong Kong CEO, Stefanie Evernett, the event recognised local finalists of the year: Iris Lun in the Technology & Entrepreneurship category, and Peter Osborne in the Inspiring Corporate Leadership category.

 

London

The London breakfast screening, hosted with warmth by Advance UK ambassador Jeannie Lopes, featured Social Impact winner Yalda Hakim and Technology & Entrepreneurship winner Dr. Kynan Eng, alongside a distinguished gathering of guests. Among the notable attendees were Richard Basil-Jones, Director of Australia UK Chamber of Commerce; Elisabeth Bowes, Deputy High Commissioner; Ed Robinson, the 2021 winner for Fintech; and Advance Board member Jennifer Mackinlay, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner for the UK, Ireland, and the Nordics.

 

Manila

The Manila screening, graciously hosted by Australian Deputy Head of Mission Dr. Moya Collett, celebrated the remarkable achievements of winners in the Philippines. The event featured the personal awards presented to Prof. Abelardo Apollo Ilagan David Jr., affectionately known as Teacher Archie and winner of the Alumni award; and to Prof. Armand Mijares, recipient of the Indo-Pacific Impact award.

 

New York

A very special lunch and screening event in New York was hosted by Advance Ambassadors Cassandra Kelly AM and Patrick Loftus-Hills. The gathering featured 2023 winner Glenn Denning, who received both the Global Impact award and the Global Australian of the Year award for his exceptional work in food security and sustainable development, as well as guests like judging panel member Bob Isherwood and Aussie community legend in NYC, Josh Pugh.

 

Singapore

The Singapore event, held at James Cook University Singapore and attended by the High Commissioner, saw a distinguished gathering that included Advance board member and Global Australian Awards judge Joseph Kwok, as well as Advance ambassadors Megan Kinder and Rajaneesh Kurup. The event also honoured the accomplishments of 2023 winner Andrea Della Mattea and 2022 finalist Cameron McLean - both from the Inspiring Corporate Leadership category.

 

Sydney

The Sydney screening at the University of Wollongong’s Sydney Campus on the harbour was hosted by UoW's Vice-Chancellor and 2021 Education Award winner Patricia Davidson. The event featured a captivating panel discussion moderated by Nicola Hazell, with 2023 winners and finalists Lucy McRae, Cle-Anne Gabriel, and Andrew Quilty. The distinguished guest list, included Advance founder and Chairman Emeritus Ken Allen, Chairman of the Advance Board Andrew Low, and former NSW Parliamentary Secretary the Hon. Gabrielle Upton.
