Ben is the Head of Macquarie Asset Management (MAM) and a member of the Macquarie Group Executive Committee.
Macquarie Asset Management is a global asset manager, integrated across public and private markets, focused on generating positive outcomes for its clients, portfolio companies, and communities. Trusted by institutions, governments, foundations, and individuals, MAM manages approximately A$917 billion in assets, offering diverse investment solutions across real estate, credit, equities, and multi-asset strategies.
Under Ben’s leadership, MAM manages 180 infrastructure portfolio companies and a team of 2,300 people operating in 24 markets. He is passionate about empowering people and fostering a culture of investment excellence. Among the team’s many achievements, one of the most meaningful is that 300 million people rely daily on essential services provided by MAM-managed companies.
Ben has actively mentored and supported many Australians in their careers, both at home and abroad, and is committed to giving back through various charitable initiatives. He serves on the Board of Directors of Mother’s Choice, a Hong Kong-based NGO, and was the co-founder and Chair of Good Financial, a fintech lending solution for migrant workers in Hong Kong. This initiative was part of a broader project on modern slavery, which also included a research report on domestic migrant workers in East Asia.
Ben joined Macquarie in 2006. Prior to his current role, which he assumed in 2021, he held several senior leadership positions within the Group, including CEO of Macquarie Group in Asia. Before Macquarie, he was Chairman and CEO of Taiwan Broadband Communications and a management consultant at Bain & Company.
Ben has lived abroad for over 25 years, with stints in Beijing, Hong Kong, Taipei, Seoul, Bangkok, and New York. His first overseas trip was with the Macquarie University debating team, which won the World Universities Debating Championship in 1994. “That experience showed me we can compete globally and gave me a sense of how interesting the world is,” he recalls.
Ben is a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network and a fellow of the 2017 Finance Leaders Fellowship class. He has been widely recognised for his outstanding global achievements, including receiving the Advance Global Australian Award for Finance & Investment in 2024.
Ben holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from Macquarie University, Sydney.
