ADVANCED MANUFACTURING AWARD WINNER 2012
Saul is Founder and Principal Scientist at Other Lab, where he focuses his work on engineering solutions for energy production and efficiency. Saul first garnered attention as a graduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab, where developed a machine that could mould prescription eyeglass lenses on demand for just a few dollars each. The technology is now being developed by Optiopia, a company he co-founded, to serve the estimated two billion people around the world who do not have access to professional eye care. Saul has gone on to become the founder or co-founder of a number companies, including Optiopia, Squid Labs, Potenco, Instructables.com, Howtoons and Makani Power, and has received numerous awards for his work in the field. In 2007, he was named a MacArthur Fellow and in 2011 a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader. Saul is a graduate of the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney.
