Security Abuse Director

GitHub is changing the way the world builds software and we want you to help build and secure GitHub. We’re looking for an experienced director to help lead a vibrant and geographically distributed group of engineers and analysts as they protect the home of all developers. This role is not about dictating or managing a team member’s work directly, but rather guiding and serving to ensure the happiness and productivity of the entire team. The primary goal of this job is to enable each team to do the best work of their lives.

As a director, you will lead both engineering and analyst managers and individual contributors in key roles across our Platform Health and Trust & Safety teams. At GitHub, Platform Health includes ensuring the GitHub platform safety through fighting spam and fraud, monitoring for fake accounts, countering inauthentic content, battling crypto mining, and other core areas. The Trust & Safety team includes ensuring user safety, countering harassment, malware detection, content moderation, eradicating CSAM, partnering closely with our Legal and Compliance teams, and more. You will advocate for them and continue to hire a diverse group of incredibly talented people. You will be involved in a range of activities across the team including guiding technical decisions and setting the standard for ensuring abuse and fraud are countered, content is moderated, and users are kept safe.

If you have a foundation in information security, anti-abuse work, online platform trust and safety issues, and enjoy supporting humans across all experience levels from fresh-out-of-college associates to seasoned senior engineers, and fancy helping build a world class security team, then this might be the gig for you.
