The Robotics Repurposing and Decommissioning Division, UKAEA’s key hub for Remote Applications in Challenging Environments and Robotics, is a dynamic business unit dedicated to fulfilling the core mission and objectives of UKAEA. The RRDD plays a central role in all of UKAEA’s major fusion projects and actively promotes global collaborations. Within this sits RAICo (Robotics and AI Collaboration). A key outcome of this role is to assess the economic impact of integrating technology in the nuclear decommissioning sector.

As a Robotics Economist, you’ll be analysing the economics of remote and robot deployments, communicating benefits to both internal teams and government bodies, including HM Treasury. Shape strong business cases aligned with the 5-case model and manage tasks efficiently within deadlines. Your experience and quantitative skills will be pivotal in influencing the nuclear decommissioning sector, contributing to the broader goals of the UKAEA mission. Please note that this role is located at either Culham or Cumbria with travel to Stakeholder sites across the UK as required. There will be responsibility for a current budget of £20 million and potentially overseeing the commissioning of studies valued at approximately £75,000 per annum.
