The General Manager, Safety and Technical (GM) is responsible for developing the safety, technical and licencing programs that will underpin ARWA’s ability and ongoing capacity to ensure the safe and secure management of Australia’s radioactive waste to the satisfaction of environmental, radiological, nuclear and security regulators. Drawing on a high level of technical expertise, the GM will provide advice to the CEO, Government and waste owners on waste management and the application of international best practice to radioactive waste management in Australia. The GM will also guide ARWA through the process of establishing a National Radioactive Waste Program and obtaining regulatory approvals and licences needed for the development and construction of new national facilities.

Reporting to the CEO and working collaboratively with two other General Managers, the GM, Safety and Technical, will play a key role in shaping the future of the agency and ensuring it has the capability and capacity to deliver a work program of high technical quality. The GM will demonstrate strong leadership and management skills and will lead the growth of a strong technical organisation.
