A Business Luncheon with Warren Randall, Proprieter & Managing Director of Seppeltsfield Wines on Changing the Face of the Alcohol Industry From China to Non-Alcoholic Beverages

Warren Randall has over forty-three years experience working in the Australian wine industry – sixteen years as an employee and twenty-seven years in his own business.

Having successfully completed two degrees: Agricultural Science from the University of Adelaide and Wine Science from Charles Sturt University. Warren received the ‘Len Evan’s Award’ for ‘exemplary leadership in the Australian Wine Industry’ and was selected as the Ernst and Young ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’.

Warren’s winemaking experience includes Wynns Winegrowers, Seaview Champagne Cellars, Lindemans Wines, Seppelt Wines, Andrew Garrett Wines, and Tinlins Wines. As well as completing several international vintages in California, Champagne, Bordeaux, and Priorat in Spain. As a specialised sparkling winemaker, Warren dominated the Australian Wine Show circuit between 1983 and 1989.

His current business holdings under The Randall Wine Group banner, include Seppeltsfield Wines and Tanunda Hill Vineyard in the Barossa, Tinlins Wines in McLaren Vale, Ryecroft Wines, and Boars Rock Winery in McLaren Vale, Sellicks Hill Vineyard in McLaren Vale, Quelltaler Estate in the Clare Valley, as well as Langhorne Creek and Currency Creek Vineyards.

Warren is the largest private, premium, and luxury vineyard holder in Australia with over 8,500 acres of vines.

Owner and executive chairman of Seppeltsfield Wines since 2009, Warren has painstakingly resurrected the Estate back to its former glory. Established in 1851 and one of the state’s most recognisable wine icons, Seppeltsfield owns the largest private holding of premium Shiraz vineyards in the Barossa. A major tourism drawcard, Seppeltsfield remains the only winery in the world to release a 100-year-old, single vintage fortified wine each year.

Since the cellar door and village development was completed in 2014, the Estate has won Best Cellar Door in the Barossa in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, (no voting in 2020), and in 2021. Also placing in the Top 50 World’s Best Vineyards in 2019, winning “Best winery for tourism in Australia” twice and Best Cellar Door in the World in 2017.

In addition to his wine business interests, Warren is the owner of the Bridgewater Mill Restaurant in the Adelaide Hills, a shareholder in the Star of Greece Restaurant on the Fleurieu Peninsula, and the ambassador for the South Australian Government Premium Food and Wine from Our Clean Environment Initiative (PIRSA). He is also the Director of Lark Distilling Co, the finest Australian Whisky producer in Tasmania, and is also now on the Board of the Adelaide Football Club.
