Australians Overseas: Key Resources for Federal Election on May 3

Australia will be heading to the polls on Saturday, May 3, 2025 — and while voting is not compulsory for Australians living overseas, it’s still crucial to stay informed and ensure your electoral enrolment is up to date.  

You must be correctly enrolled by 8pm local time Monday 7 April 2025.

Key Resources & What You Need to Do

• Register as an overseas elector (if you're already enrolled and returning within six years): https://www.aec.gov.au/overseas/overseas-elector.htm
• Enrol from overseas (if you left Australia within the past 3 years and are not currently enrolled): https://www.aec.gov.au/overseas/overseas-enrolment.htm
• Enrol before leaving Australia (if you're not enrolled yet): https://www.aec.gov.au/enrol/
• Unable to vote? Submit an Overseas Notification Form, which is available here: https://formupload.aec.gov.au/Form?FormId=osn

In-Person Overseas Voting Locations

Overseas voting centres are available in over 100 locations during the early voting period and runs for up to two weeks leading up to election.

Not all overseas voting centres, in Australian embassies, high commissions and consulates, will open for the entire two weeks.
