As we observe the devastating consequences of the global pandemic we are reminded of those who commit their life’s work to creating social impact. We know our members are particularly driven to create a better and more equal world, as shown by the large number of nominations each year for the Advance Awards Social Impact category.
This edition of Born Global focuses on those global Aussies committed to improving the lives of others. We highlight the latest work of our past Award winners – Hugh Evans, Prue Clarke, Nicholas Wyman, and Sophie Blackall – and also Leith Greenslade, an Australian leading a global coalition to address oxygen shortages. And our postcard this month comes from Colombia, with its small but mighty community of Australians.
While some parts of the world are emerging from Covid restrictions, other members are experiencing a return to lockdown, including in Singapore and Melbourne. For those needing some extra motivation at this time, check out the Inspiration section on our website. In addition to the powerful personal stories of global Australians, we hope the Australian children’s stories might entertain young readers.
‘Till next time,
