Advance is building its newest chapter in Shanghai. We are thrilled to be in the midst of our expansion into Asia, starting with our new Asia Director.
In line with this expansion, we are planning a
major event in Shanghai from 20 to 21 November this year, called the Advance
Asia 50 Summit. The Shanghai Summit follows the successful Advance 100 Global
Australians Summit held at the Sydney Opera House in 2006, attended by leaders
from the forefront of business, academia and the arts from around the world.
This included global Australians from Hong Kong, Shanghai,
Chongqing, Singapore, Tokyo, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Phnom Penh. The Advance
Asia 50 Summit will be an historic event in Australian public diplomacy. It
will bring together fifty of Australia's leaders and emerging leaders living in
Asia from fields including business, finance, science and technology, mining
and natural resources, education, research and the arts.
The Advance Asia 50 Summit aims to recognise the important
role Australians in Asia play as ambassadors-at-large in the region. We hope to
create a resource of leaders who will aid diplomatic, cultural and trade
objectives to the benefit of Australia and Australians generally.
There are a number of existing Australian organisations operating in Shanghai including the Australian Chamber of Commerce Shanghai, the Australian Embassy, China, the Australian China Alumni Association and the Australia-China Council.
The Advance community is continually expanding, and we rely on our network of volunteers to help us grow. If you are interested in having a hands-on role in Advance in Asia, please email us with your expression of interest and any questions you may have.
