ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Advance: Inspiring Australian companies to Innovate, Commercialise, Globalise The 50 for the Future Advance Innovation Program provides Australian start-ups with a unique opportunity to experience Silicon Valley from the inside through a network of valley veterans. Participants will make invaluable connections and pitch directly to top tier VCs and angel investors. Companies selected to participate in the program will embark upon a 12 week journey that includes the opportunity to attend workshops, be mentored by Australian entrepreneurs based in Silicon Valley, and attend a three day Summit in Silicon Valley. At the Summit Advance will be honoring the 50 for the Future, successful entrepreneurial Australians who are being recognised for their contribution to commercialising innovation in the United States. To participate in this program, companies will need to complete and submit an application form by the 14th of March 2012. Advance will then select the winning companies, who will embark upon a 12 week journey starting in Australia in March and ending in Silicon Valley in May 2012. What does the program include? Workshops – Sydney, 20 March 2012 and Melbourne, 22 March 2012 These one-day workshops will be led by Shayna Modarresi, Regional Manager of Silicon Valley based DLA Piper Venture Pipeline Group, and focus on strategic issues critical to securing funding. Melbourne - Investment Centre of Victoria, Level 46, 55 Collins Street, Melbourne Mentoring – April and May 2012 Each start-up will be matched with one of our 50 for the Future mentors and receive a total of 10 weeks invaluable pre and post summit coaching. Our mentors include entrepreneurial Australians living in Silicon Valley, who have successfully taken products to market, built high-performing teams, and attracted investment from venture capital firms and companies. The Summit – Silicon Valley, 15 – 17 May 2012 Our Advance Innovation Summit, 15 – 17 May 2012, brings together the who’s who of global Australian innovation for two days of inspiration, insights, networking and the opportunity to pitch to VCs and angel investors. TiEcon Conference– Silicon Valley, 18-19 May 2012 Celebrating its 19th year in 2012, TiEcon is the world’s largest conference for entrepreneurs. Each year in May, over 3,000 attendees gather for two days of thought-provoking topics on entrepreneurship, industry trends and opportunities. Advance Innovation Program participants will receive an exclusive discount to attend TiEcon immediately after the Summit. Legal advice All participants will receive legal mentoring from DLA Piper Australia over the three months of the program. Who should apply? Early stage start-ups seeking investment and exposure in Silicon Valley with top tier angel and VC investors. What does it cost? For companies based in Australia, there is a cost of $2000 per person to participate in the program which includes the workshops, mentor program, Summit and return flights from Australia to San Francisco.
