
MINING INVESTMENT BOOM CONTINUES IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA
Two more major mines will be developed in South Australia , confirming that the State’s record-breaking exploration activity is translating into a mining boom. South Australian mineral exploration expenditure reached $146.5 million in 2005-06, more than three times the 2003-04 level. Minerals are today South Australia ’s largest export commodity earning about $1.7 billion annually and accounting for approximately 19 per cent of total state exports. Launch of new Newcomers Network website and Welcome to Adelaide events
Sue Ellson, the Founder of Newcomers Network returned to her home town of Adelaide to launch the newest version of the Newcomers Network website on Friday 20 July 2007 at the Sebel Playford Lounge Bar at 120 North Terrace, Adelaide. Ms Ellson also launched the very first 'Welcome to Adelaide' monthly event that will be hosted on the second Friday of every month by Mr Amgad Elmahdi, a Muslim man who moved to Adelaide in January this year. [More...]Innovation and Investment Fund AnnouncedBuilding on the success of the Structural Adjustment Fund for South Australia to facilitate and attract new investment in South Australia, and the decision of a number of companies to close their operations in South Australia, the Australian and South Australian Governments have announced a $30 million package to assist with industry development in South Australia. The package will support new investment that will create sustainable job opportunities in South Australia.
Support for this investment will be provided from the Innovation and Investment Fund for South Australia (IIFSA); a fund to which the Australian Government will contribute $25 million and the South Australian Government $5 million.
The Fund gives effect to the Prime Minister’s announcement of 14 September 2006 of assistance to South Australian industry following the decision by Electrolux to close some of its manufacturing operations in South Australia. Round one of the Fund will open on 15 November 2006.

Level 2 Water Restrictions Kick In Level 2 Water Restrictions are in force from midnight on 22 October 2006 for most of South Australia. The restrictions will help conserve our nation’s precious River Murray.

With the Adelaide Festival confirmed as the first CO2-free film festival, you can even feel virtuous about attending. STACEY ELLUL - MEMBER PROFILE
Stacey moved to the United States of America in search of career progression. What was initailly to be a two year tenure, has turned into seven years. Stacey works for St. Jude Medical in California. Her role is to complete European submission activities to obtain CE mark for marketing authorization within the European Union, and then manage and support international product registration globally for the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division. It is a dynamic role, which requires a skill set that allows Stacey to speak to government ministries of health and their agencies, medical device industry lobbying groups and St. Jude office staff around the world.
